Happy 2026

The beginning of a new year often brings promises. Many make plans and resolutions, set goals and promise to change things.

These promises are frequently not met as the goals may be too ambitious and the required changes too great.

I like to focus on small things, like starting every day with 5 minutes of movement. It’s achievable and can truly start each day off right.

5 minute of yoga can help you be calm and centered. 5 minutes of gentle stretches can ease tensions in the body. Body weight exercises like pushups and squats done regularly can noticeably increase strength.

Plus, 5 minutes each day add up to 2.5 hours of movement a month and 30 hours per year.

For many years now, I have focused on adding short movement breaks throughout the day, ideally every hour. Often these breaks are only a minute or two, but several are longer.

It’s not difficult to accumulate 30 minutes of movement or more every day just from movement breaks. My body feels so much better since I have started moving regularly throughout the day, and I am more productive the more I move.
